This handmade bird house is beautifully crafted from solid Western red cedar and is designed to fit right over a nominal 4x4 post, which is one of the most commonly sized posts used for decks and fences.  Please keep in mind that the actual dimensions of a nominal 4x4 post are 3 ½” x 3 ½”.  If your post measures a true 4” x 4” this house will not slide over the top.  It is crafted to be an ideal home for a variety of small to medium-sized birds.  It’s also packed with unique features to include the following:
 
•         1 ½” diameter entry hole (perfect for bluebirds, chickadees, finches, nuthatches, wrens, songbirds, titmouses, etc…)
•         Kerf cuts (i.e. grooves) below the entry hole for birds to cling to as they enter/exit the house
•         Mid-century modern design with upsloping roof and support beams
•         Designed to slide over a 4x4 post (actual 3 ½” x 3 ½”) for easy mounting
•         Stops on inside allow birdhouse to slide over post a full 2”
•         Includes a pre-drilled hole on back and a stainless steel screw for mounting
•         Easy cleaning – just remove from the post, clean, and slide it back on – the top of the post serves as the bottom of the birdhouse

If you already have a post you plan to mount this birdhouse over, please double-check the dimensions before ordering.  The bottom opening of this birdhouse measures slightly over 3 ½” x 3 ½” which allows a little extra room in case your post has swelled over time or has minor imperfections.  If the post is larger than these dimensions this birdhouse will not fit over the top.  
 
This birdhouse is available unfinished or stained and painted as shown in the majority of the listing pictures (stained cedar body/flat black roof and beams).  The inside and bottom will not be stained/painted.  These make perfect gifts bird lovers, new homeowners, or anyone who wants to add a touch of art to their yard!
