This Murphy style fold-down desk is a great way to add a desk to a small area without sacrificing much needed space. The steel brackets fold up and lock at 90-degrees when in use as a desk. When your work is done, simply fold it down and it hangs unobtrusively against the wall.
The desk is handcrafted from ¾” solid red oak and measures 20” wide x 12” deep. It’s just the right amount of space for a standard size laptop or notebook to be placed on and still have some extra room for a mouse, pencils, and other accessories. All edges of the oak desktop have been rounded over to remove sharp edges and improve aesthetics. The desk protrudes less than 2" out from the wall when folded down.
The oak is finished on all surfaces with a satin clear topcoat to protect and enhance the natural beauty of the wood. No staining is involved – what you see is the natural color of the oak. You can expect some variation in the grain, color, and patterns present in the wood.
The folding steel brackets come pre-attached to the bottom of the desk surface spaced conveniently at 16” apart. This enables you to mount the brackets into the wall studs of your home if they have standard 16” on-center framed walls. Instructions and mounting hardware are included – plastic drywall anchors are not necessary if mounted into studs, they are a must if studs are not present.
*SAFETY WARNING – the steel brackets pose a pinching/cut risk to small children. There is an inherent risk of pinching due to the folding nature of the brackets and some of the metal pieces have sharp edges. RECOMMENDED FOR ADULT USE ONLY.
